On 27 October 2025, CABRI visited the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Budget and Planning in Abuja. The Director-General (DG) Mr. Tanimu Yakubu, together with Mr. Alfred Okoh - Technical Advisor to the DG Budget and Mr. Imam Abdulkadir - Special Adviser to the DG Budget, received the CABRI delegation consisting of the Executive Secretary Dr. Kay Brown, Mrs. Soonsyra Lowe Nicolas - Executive: Operations and Mr. Olaniyi Olaleye - PF Programme Specialist.
Nigeria has been an active participant in CABRI programmes, with over 20 programmes attended by officials since before officially becoming a member country in 2018.
Important work has been undertaken in Nigeria across a wide scope of PFM – amongst others and most notably, on broadening the coverage of the integrated financial management information system beyond central government (GIFMIS), health financing, smallholder farmer support through private-public partnership, sustainable debt management, and the evaluation and monitoring for completion of capital projects.
Director-General Mr. Yakubu, expressed his gratitude for the initiatives planned in CABRI’s expansion phase and his wish to continue to work harmoniously with CABRI to share current experiences regarding commonly-faced PF challenges amongst other members and peers across Africa.
In our ongoing collaborations, we will continue to strengthen our interventions to improve PF capacity and capability.
