On Wednesday 29 October 2025, Nigeria CABRI country representative, Mr Alfred Okoh - Technical Advisor to the Director-General (DG) Budget Office of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, organised an in-person courtesy visit between Ms Patience Oniha, DG of the Debt Management Office Nigeria in the Presidency and CABRI delegation - Dr Kay Brown, Executive Secretary and the Executive for Operations, Mrs Soonsyra Lowe Nicolas.

Ms Oniha indicated her intention for Nigeria to deepen its support for peer-learning and exchange with CABRI member and other African countries, especially with its recent experiences regarding Sukuk Bond issuance, extension of debt domestic financing spanning a 30-year period, and local Green Bond issuance, amongst others.

Ms Oniha accredits their successes to the purposeful training and capacitation of debt management officials. She views the CABRI Network of Public Debt Managers in Africa as a unique opportunity to leverage peer-learning for knowledge building, both in terms of their contribution of Nigerian debt management praxis and insights, and acquisition of learnings from a range of other country experiences.
