Kenya has been implementing a series of public financial management (PFM) reforms aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, equity, and fiscal discipline. The Public Financial Management Reform Strategy 2018–2023 focused on enhancing service delivery and economic development through improved management and use of public resources.
In December 2023, Kenya secured support to further strengthen transparency in public finance management. This new programme aims to incentivise the final phase of a decade-long PFM reform journey, including the full rollout of reforms across national government ministries, departments, and agencies.
This video captures Kenya’s journey in digital PFM reform through the lens of its homegrown REFORMiS system - a platform that has redefined how ministries, departments, and agencies collaborate moving from fragmented reporting to integrated, real-time oversight. It is a story of leadership, institutional alignment, and the power of technology to strengthen public finance outcomes.
