Launched in September 2019 by the Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI), the Africa Debt Monitor (ADM) is a unique tool designed to manage and track sovereign debt levels across the continent. The ADM has transformed the way governments, policymakers and other actors’ access and use debt information. In 2025, the ADM entered its third iteration.
The official launch of the revamped ADM platform on 10 February 2026, presented the latest data and analysis on African central government debt, highlighting pathways towards greater sustainability and resilience. The virtual event convened officials debt management offices and ministries of Finance across Africa.
Through the presentation of new evidence and structured peer exchange, the launch showcased innovative policies and institutional practices that enhance debt transparency, strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation and foster strategic decision-making for sustainable debt management across the continent.
